Bob grew up in western Indiana hunting woodchucks and fishing for bass and panfish from an early age. Shooting rats in the local prison's dump with his Dad, was his introduction to hunting and the start of a lifetime passion for the varmint hunting. In those years, crows were not as numerous in the area but they would respond to his questionable mouth calling and the old timey paper marche decoys that he employed as a schoolboy over a classic Winchester Model 12 pump in 20 gauge. He attended and graduated from Indiana State University with a basketball legend - Larry Bird - before moving to Texas in 1977 to start a career in accounting and marry his college sweetheart. Forty-five plus years later with 3 grown kids, he is still happily married to the same wonderful gal and only recently retired from the same great company!
He enjoys chasing varmints, competitive target shooting, gardening and is starting to take up pickleball. He has 'cultivated' many wonderful friendships with local farmers, orchard men and ranchers through his animal damage control efforts. He gained the nickname "Gadget Bob" from good friend he shot sporting clays with for many years, as Bob was known to invest in any 'gadget' that might improve his scoring. He takes that same approach with crow hunting using innovations such as "Hot Sticks" for decoy placement, "Metro Gun" barrels & suppressors for sound attenuation, the latest in digital ecallers, field portable turntables for improved e-calling and the most sophisticated "flapping" decoys to fool our worthy foes.
He has also developed night hunting expertise for nocturnal pests including hogs, coyote, skunks and, especially, raccoons. In this pursuit, he uses thermal vision equipment to level the playing field along with his FOXPRO digital e-caller and Lightforce HID spotlights.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Indiana State University and has been a licensed CPA in Texas since 1982. He has belonged to many related professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He directed a national team of Client Success Managers for corporate tax compliance and workflow automation software solutions for the global leader in information & automated solutions for accounting, tax and legal markets based at our headquarters in Carrollton.
In addition to that role, Bob is also an experienced Pro Staffer for premier outdoor brands. He has represented Hornady ammunition and reloading equipment since 2011 at Cabela's, and Bass Pro Shops in Texas. He was invited to join the Mossy Oak Pro Staff team in 2012 and has been named the region's "Pro Staffer of the Year" three times. In 2015 Bob was recruited to join the FOXPRO Field Staff and is honored to now represent this leader in high performance game calls. In this Pro Staff/Field Staff capacity, he delivers presentations and conducts seminars on crow, predator and hog hunting as well as reloading and ammo selection topics. He also teaches reloading for both metallic cartridge and shotshells for the Hodgdon Powder Company, since 2018, as an NRA certified instructor. Along with supporting the major sporting goods retailers in DFW and throughout Texas, he also works major industry events such as SCI Dallas, the statewide Texas Trophy Hunters Extravaganza's, the NRA Annual Meetings/Exhibits and the SHOT Show in Las Vegas.
He is a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, the Texas State Rifle Association, the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation, and the Dallas Pistol Club along with maintaining annual memberships in the Terrell Rifle & Pistol Club, The Eagle Gun Ranges, CrowBusters and the Texas Pecan Growers Association. In addition, he serves as a coach of the Dallas Jesuit High School Competitive Shooting Team.
